Description
The early Ford Bronco is one of the most beloved and collectible American off-road vehicles ever produced. Introduced in 1966 as Ford’s answer to the Jeep CJ and International Scout, the first-generation Bronco combined genuine four-wheel-drive capability with a compact, purpose-built body that has aged beautifully. By 1971, the Bronco had established itself as a capable and characterful machine equally at home on trails and city streets, and today first-generation examples are among the most actively sought-after classic SUVs in the collector market. Professionally restored Broncos by recognized builders consistently command strong premiums for their combination of reliability, craftsmanship, and turn-key usability.
This 1971 example is the product of a nut-and-bolt, body-off-frame restoration by Velocity Restorations of Pensacola, Florida — an industry-recognized specialist in early Bronco builds. The Hunter Green exterior is complemented by body-color matched fender flares with enlarged rear wheel openings, chrome bumpers, a painted grille with polished trim, and polished side trim, creating a refined yet rugged presentation. A lifted suspension with Wild Horses coil springs and Bilstein shocks front and rear, combined with 32×11.50 R15 BFGoodrich KO2 tires, gives the Bronco a purposeful stance that backs up its off-road credentials. A 4-point roll bar and body-color textured undercoating reflect the thoroughness of the build throughout.
Under the hood sits a 302 cubic inch Ford V8 equipped with FAST electronic fuel injection on an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, MSD ignition, Hedman long-tube headers, and dual Dynomax exhaust — a well-sorted combination that delivers modern reliability with a satisfying exhaust note. The C4 3-speed automatic transmission feeds a Dana 30 front axle, Ford 9-inch rear axle, and Dana 20 transfer case for a complete and capable four-wheel-drive drivetrain. An aluminum radiator and fabricated rear-mounted fuel tank reflect the attention to detail carried through every aspect of the mechanical build.
Inside, the parchment bucket seat interior is clean and comfortable, featuring a tilt steering column with wood-rimmed billet aluminum steering wheel, factory gauge cluster, a Tuffy locking console and under-seat storage, three-point front seat belts, and a modern JL Audio stereo with Bluetooth. Power steering, power front disc brakes, AMP Research lighted power side steps, and a Bimini top round out a Bronco that is equally prepared for the trail, the cruise night, or the daily commute.
