Description
The 1955 Ford F100 holds a special place in American truck history. The second generation of Ford’s F-Series, introduced in 1953, brought dramatically cleaner styling that broke from the upright, utilitarian look of earlier trucks — lower, wider, and more car-like in its proportions, with a wraparound windshield and a cab that genuinely prioritized driver comfort. The F100 half-ton designation made it equally suited to light hauling and everyday driving, and its balanced design made it one of the most naturally customizable platforms of the entire postwar era. Today, first and second generation F100s are among the most actively collected and built custom trucks in the hobby, with clean, well-executed examples commanding serious attention at shows nationwide.
This particular F100 was built by Larry J’s Restorations and claimed first place at the 2004 Ford F100 Nationals, going on to be featured in Truck Magazine — a combination of accolades that speaks directly to the quality of the build. The truck presents in a distinctive green exterior with a power tilt nose, smoothed rear pan, smoothed tailgate, and chrome front bumper delivering a clean, uncluttered profile that lets the F100’s timeless proportions speak for themselves. Boyd 18-inch wheels at all four corners wrapped in Pirelli SuperSport P275/35ZR18 tires complete the stance with period-custom flair.
Under the power tilt hood sits a Ford 460 cubic inch big block V8 equipped with a mild cam, Edelbrock intake manifold, and four-barrel carburetor, with exhaust exiting through headers and dual pipes. A 4-speed manual transmission with a floor-mounted Hurst shifter puts the power delivery squarely in the driver’s hands, while a Ford 9-inch rear end handles the output reliably. Mustang II front suspension components provide modern steering geometry, supported by power front disc brakes and drum rears, and power steering for relaxed maneuverability.
Inside the roomy cab, tan leather and tweed seating surfaces, custom door panels, Dakota Digital gauges, an overhead console, and power windows create a comfortable and thoughtfully finished environment. The truck bed features plank wood flooring with a gloss finish and chrome slots — a period-correct custom touch that ties the interior and exterior presentation together. Build documentation is included with the sale, supporting a truck that earned its accolades the hard way and has been enjoyed sparingly in the two decades since.
