Car Overview

Description
The Ford Mustang Boss 302 occupies a singular place in pony car history. Created specifically to homologate the 302 cubic inch engine for SCCA Trans-Am road racing competition, the Boss 302 was Ford’s most focused and driver-oriented Mustang of the entire first-generation run. With its high-revving small block, Competition Suspension, quick-ratio steering, and aggressive graphics package, it was purpose-built to outhandle as much as it outran. Produced for only two model years — 1969 and 1970 — the Boss 302 remains one of the most authentically performance-oriented Mustangs ever to leave Dearborn, and documented examples continue to command serious collector attention.
This example is an authentic Boss 302 that has benefitted from a detailed ground-up restoration, documented by a Deluxe Marti Auto Works Report confirming its correct options and heritage. Originally a yellow car, it has been refinished in modernized yellow paint with correct Boss 302 graphics and décor, retaining the bold, purposeful appearance the model is known for. The correct optional deck spoiler and Sport Slats window louvers are present, and 15-inch Chrome Magnum 500 wheels complete a visually cohesive presentation that is true to the Boss 302’s original character.
Under the hood sits the correct 302 cubic inch V8, backed by the correct Toploader 4-speed manual transmission and correct Ford 9-inch rear axle — the full numbers-correct drivetrain combination that Boss 302 collectors specifically seek. The correct Competition Suspension, correct power front disc and rear drum brakes, and correct optional power steering deliver the handling balance that made the Boss 302 a genuine road racing threat in period. Every mechanical element has been restored to correct specification, supporting a driving experience that reflects what Ford’s engineers originally intended.
Inside, the correct Black Clarion/Corinthian vinyl interior with correct Décor Group option is well-preserved, featuring the correct optional tachometer and a wood-rimmed steering wheel that adds a sporting touch consistent with the Boss 302’s performance brief. For collectors seeking an authentic, correctly documented Boss 302 with proper options, correct drivetrain, and a striking yellow presentation, this Mustang represents exactly the combination of pedigree and presentation that defines the top tier of the first-generation fastback market.
