Description

The Oldsmobile 442 remains one of the most underappreciated muscle cars of the entire golden era. While Chevelles and GTOs tend to dominate collector wish lists, Oldsmobile’s performance flagship delivered comparable power with a distinctly upscale character — earning its reputation as a bar brawler in a tuxedo. The 1967 model year brought a refined, slightly restyled 442 package exclusive to the top-of-the-line Cutlass Supreme, resulting in a more substantial and sophisticated appearance than many of its GM stablemates while retaining every ounce of broad-shouldered American attitude. Numbers-matching 1967 examples in rare color combinations are among the most desirable A-body GM muscle cars a collector can find.

This example has completed a 10-year rotisserie restoration documented by over 250 photographs, and has logged just 69 miles since completion. It presents in a correct and rare Antique Pewter two-stage finish highlighted with tasteful pinstripes, complemented by a correct black vinyl bucket seat interior. The numbers-matching 400 cubic inch Rocket V8 carries its correct 442-specific casting number and assembly stamp, rebuilt with an NOS W-30 camshaft to deliver the factory-rated 360 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. The correct Rochester carburetor, chrome air cleaner, and factory-spec engine bay detailing present exactly as Oldsmobile intended from the Lansing assembly line in May of 1967.

Backing the Rocket V8 is a correct Muncie 4-speed manual transmission with its matching casting number and build stamp, feeding a 10-bolt rear axle with Posi-traction differential. The tagged heavy-duty suspension with thicker coil springs, reinforced control arms, and mandatory rear sway bar remains correct throughout, supported by factory power steering and four-wheel power drum brakes. A concours Gardener exhaust routes spent gases through factory-spec mufflers and chrome-tipped outlets, while 14-inch Styled Steel wheels wearing Firestone Wide Oval redlines complete the correct, period-accurate presentation.

Inside, the black bucket seat interior is correct and well-preserved, with fresh carpet protected by Oldsmobile-branded floor mats, restored Rally Pac telemetry, a Hurst 442 shifter in the optional console, and a fully restored trunk complete with a matching spare wheel and redline tire. The sale includes a vintage Owner’s Manual, Warranty Booklet, and the full restoration photo archive — documentation that supports one of the most thoroughly correct and carefully preserved 442 examples available in today’s collector market.
