Description
The Porsche 911 needs little introduction. Since its debut in 1963, it has stood as one of the most enduring and beloved sports cars ever produced — a rear-engined icon that defied conventional automotive wisdom and won over generations of drivers with its unique character, precision handling, and timeless silhouette. The 1974 model year marked the beginning of the G-Series generation, which would carry the 911 nameplate all the way through 1989, cementing its reputation as one of the longest-running and most celebrated platforms in automotive history.
This 1974 example has been transformed with a full 964-body conversion performed by PanelWerks, giving it the clean, wide-body appearance of the early 1990s 911 generation. Finished in Polar Silver — an authentic early-90s Porsche color — the transformation is both visually cohesive and historically sympathetic. The car has been with the same owner since 1985 and was completed in 2015, with only 250 miles driven since the restoration was finished.
Under the rear lid sits the original 2.7-liter air-cooled flat-six, rebuilt and fully serviced with external seals replaced, chain rails refreshed, and tensioners updated. The engine received an extensive tune-up ensuring mechanical reliability that matches the visual quality of the bodywork. Backing it is a rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission, delivering the direct, tactile driving experience that 911 enthusiasts have always sought. Stock brakes and suspension retain the authentic handling balance Porsche engineered into the platform.
Inside, the cabin has been refreshed with a new headliner and new front carpet, preserving the driver-focused simplicity that defines the classic 911 interior. The minimalist dashboard, compact instrument cluster, and snug bucket seats create an environment built around the act of driving. With its rare body conversion, single long-term ownership history, and thorough mechanical restoration, this 911 occupies a compelling space between classic air-cooled purity and early-90s Porsche style.
